Description

The participating organization is the Environmental Protection
Research Institute (EPRI) which was founded under the umbrella of former
Ministry of Chemical Iindustry in 1978. In 1999 EPRI was integrated into
SINOPEC. EPRI is one
of the main scientific research institutes in environmental protection in China. It has
nearly 60 staff of which 50 are technical personnel including one senior
engineer with
the rank of professor, 20 senior engineers and 30 engineers. It is divided into six
divisions:

|
EPRI has extensive experience in cleaner production, resource regeneration and
utilization, industrial pollution control, environmental protection product development,
environmental impact assessment, pollution source monitoring, environmental monitoring,
safety and control of toxic chemicals, environmental standards, environmental protection
planning, environmental statistics and information, etc. It has won many awards for
its practical implementations.

EPRI has ongoing activities with other environmental research institutes, universities
and corporations in Japan, USA, Canada, UK, France, Switzerland and the Northern European
countries. It is carrying out an Environmental Technical Assistance project supported by
the World Bank. EPRI provides consulting services on pollution prevention and control
projects.
