Conceived in 1984 by the Canadian Chemical Producers Association, the initiative was brought to the United States by the Chemical Manufacturers Association in 1988 and by SOCMA in 1990. With more than twenty U.S. Responsible Care® Partner Associations and the spread of Responsible Care® to over 40 countries, it has truly become an industry-wide global initiative.)
