  • Gender Information Exchange -- http://www.siyanda.org --Siyanda aims to be an ever growing resource to support practitioners in implementing gender programmes and in mainstreaming gender equality concerns, whether they are gender specialists or not. Includes information on development issues such as water. Terrific research tool. 
  • GENDERSTATS -- http://genderstats.worldbank.org/menu.asp -- database of gender statistics, developed by the Gender and Development Group (PREM Gender) and the Development Data Group of the World Bank. Statistics are available for every country worldwide. Search by country for data on basic demographics, population dynamics, labour force structure, education, health and maternal mortality. There is also a link to statistics on gender differences, gender and education and reproductive health from the World Development Indicators (WDI).
  • Tipsheets for Improving Gender Equality -- http://www.oecd.org/ -- Browse a range of gender "tip sheets", providing useful background information on integrating a gender perspective into development activities and policies. The site houses the Internet clearinghouse for information on activities surrounding the assessment of the 1994 International Conference on Population and Development, also known as "Cairo + 5".
  • Gender Equality Group -- http://www.oecd.org --  GEG works within the Development Assistance Committee (DAC) of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD. Its purpose is to work towards ensuring that the full potential of women as contributors to, and beneficiaries of, the development process can be promoted and supported through the work of the DAC and through its Member countries, thus improving the status of women and assisting the total development effort. Good site for links and international gender equity policy research.
  • Human Rights in China -- http://www.hrichina.org -- an international non-governmental organization founded by Chinese scientists and scholars in March 1989. HRIC monitors the implementation of international human rights standards in the People's Republic of China and carries out human rights advocacy and education among Chinese people inside and outside the country. Good links to news and HRIC publications on women's rights in China.
  • International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance --  http://www.idea.int/women -- interactive website called 'Women in Politics: Beyond Numbers' that serves as a discussion forum and information depot for all aspects of women's involvement in politics.
  • International Labour Organization -- http://www.ilo.org/public/english/bureau/gender/intro -- ILO's gender home page. The promotion of justice and the improvement of working conditions of women and men are the guiding principles of the ILO.
  • Network Women in Development Europe --  http://www.eurosur.org/wide/porteng.htm -- WIDE, a European network of women active in NGOs and research institutes. Links to several interesting publications.
  • 1990 Institute -- http://www.1990institute.org -- U.S. based, action-oriented think tank dedicated to the study of major economic and social issues relating to China.   • China Woman News Online -- http://www.china-woman.com/english.htm -- Founded in October of 1984, China Women's News is the only nationwide daily for women.
